A Return To The Virtual Felt

I started on 4-14-2010 with ~$3 in my Pokerstars account, and another desire to build a bankroll by mainly playing limit holdem. I feel that I play it a little better than no limit, and, at least for me, I feel it helps me with tilt control.

Anyways, I have been using HEM and started playing $.02/.04 FL 6max games, and played about 15k hands of .02/.04 while making almost $26. I then started fitting in some .05/.10 games, and eventually switched to just that. Over 15k hands at .05/.10, I made ~$46. By this time, my account has been in the $60-$70 range, and I have been slowly trying to add some .10/.20 limit games, but started with a huge downstreak. AK on a AK84 board vs 88, and many cold decks like this had me staying in the .05/.10 game.

Well May 6 comes around, and I see a $22 FLHE event on the SCOOP schedule for May 8, and I decided I wanted to play, but couldn't afford an entry via direct buyin, so I went looking for FPP satellites. I ended up winning 3 of them, playing in the event, and winning $44 in T$. I was considering using a T$ trading service, but figured I would give the knockout SnGs a shot on stars, and proceeded to play 4 of them, a mix of buyins, totaling $44.60, and ended up cashing for $83.40, boosting my bankroll to ~$145. With that boost, I am taking another shot at .10/.20 FL, and am looking to build. Ultimately, since I multitable, I want to make sure that as I move up the limits slowly, that my BR is big enough. Ideally, I would have liked to have about 1000 big bets before moving up limits in the future.

I hope to keep this blog updated, at least every few days, and hope that my journey may show something that is capable.

Good day

Ran like a champ today. Decided I wanted to go to the local casino and play in the afternoon tournament. $50 buyin, 42 entered, top 5 got paid. A fairly normal event, nothing major. Maybe one or 2 bad beats. The hand I loved is when I flopped a set of fives and got a guy to instacall a HUGE bet before I got it into the pot. I make the final table, then end up taking down the whole thing after getting heads up, losing the cheap lead, coming from behind twice when all in, and then having TT hold up vs AQ. Shipped $600+ my way.

I then hang out with a few friends deciding what to do. I end up having some people that played in the afternoon tournament talk me into playing the evening tournament with my new winnings, so I entered and wouldn't you know, I made the final table, and then was heads up, winning the evening tournament, for $700+ for a $60 buyin.

Two tournaments, $130 in buyings, $1300+ shipped my way. Good day.

I have since got home and the sicko I am, I have two $2/4 tables going to kill a little time, but it is going to be an early night.

A Welcome Back

I am again going to start blogging. Not starting from nothing, but I have had a good week running $60 into $600, and going to attempt to play $2/4 fixed limit and $4.40/180 mans to build a bankroll.

Sorry

Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been doing some work where I don't have a lot of time. A little time in the afternoon, and that is mostly it. Sometimes more, but not a lot.

Anyways, I am in a tournament right now and will try to update after that.

Tournament #96580245

Just busted out in 15th.

Got a balance of $97.05 and might play a little more before bed. I am going to try and maybe update in the afternoons and hopefully get back to regular updates.

Update

It has been a week since I have updated the blog. This is only going to be a quick one. I have decided that I am not going to play limit exclusively, but also am going to do my best to stay withing a reasonable bankroll management level. Nothing set in stone, just general guidelines I have in my head.

As for where I am now, I have $83.65 in my account.

I don't know how much I will be playing over the next few days either. I am starting a job as a jockey agent, so that will be taking some more of my time.

Saturday

Just a quick update on yesterday. I played a couple $2.20 SnGs for the Sunday 100K, one won, got a $11 T$ and played two $5.50 SnGs. Finished in 4th and 5th.

I also ended up playing a little 6max .01/.02 NL to change it up a little, and I am moving back down to .05/.10 limit because yesterday was another bad day of .10/.20.

Sorry bout the late/short update. Todays will be better

Starting Bankroll: $101.28
Ending Bankroll: $83.94
Profit/Loss: -$17.34

Update to Fridays Post

I went out for a bit, came home and felt good, refreshed, so I played 2 more $4.40s and finished in 25th and 55th. I will be starting today with a $101.28 bankroll. Also, someone mentioned wanting to see some hands in posts, and here is a list of some of the hands I lost with yesterday. I am going to start to add some more in daily as time goes on, I promise.

Now I understand that I got a little lucky on the flop to catch the jack, but I would rather see annie catch the king than the gutshot.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881640

Looking back now, I guess I could have 3 bet the flop since there were 2 spades, but I still question whether it would have gotten saras to fold. Also, with 3 limpers in front of you, do you still raise this hand from the BB, or check it away.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881645

I guess I just play too tight at times, but I hate when there is a raised pot, 25 overcards, and people still call to hit their set.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881663

By the river I knew that I was beat, but I called anyways out of frustrastion. It is amazing how many times you can flop 2 pair and lose.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881687

I think I got a hammerlock on this hand after the flop, then not sure after the turn, and a sick river. I am only slightly better than a 7/1 favorite here after the flop?

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881700

I could only sit in amazement when I saw the end of this hand. I guess this is a type of hand that I have to work more on at 6-max. Is it really a check/call to the river?

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881703

I am sure I could have saved a few bets at the end, but I just LOLed after this one.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881715

I don't fault the play, just hate the river.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881718

Sigh!!!

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881720

Another Sigh. Better than 9/1 favorite on this flop

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881727

Dont think anything could have changed here. Guess I just didn't want to hit 2 pair.

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881732

I was in bad shape after the flop here, and the turn just made it look so much better. How does the guy not raise any turn or river bet?

http://www.pokerhand.org/?2881737

Great turn card, horrible river card.
